Biography

Mabel Carnaby (b. c. 1542 - d. aft. 1605),[1] is a daughter and co-heir of:

  • Sir Reginald Carnaby of Capheaton (d. 20 Jul 1547),[3]
  • and Dorothy Forster (living 1565/6).[4]

She was living as a widow on 28 Jul 1605.[5]

She had two sisters:

  • Katherine "Catherine"
m. Cuthbert Ogle[2]
  • Ursula (b. c. 1541; living 18 Jun 1600).[6]
m.1 Edward Widdrington (d. c. 1577).[3]
m.2 Thomas Musgrave (living 18 Jun 1600).[7]

Marriage

In 1560 Mabel married George Lawson, esq. of Little Usworth, co. Durham (will 29 Dec 1587; inq. pm. 01 May 1588; bur. Washington),[4][5] who inherited a large part of Brunton.[6]

His parents were:

  • Thomas Lawson, gent. of Usworth (inq. pm. 03 Jun 1559),[4][7][5]
  • and Elizabeth Darrell of co. Wilts.[4][7]
