Biography
Maj Gen. Alexander Carnegie was born on 25 February 1793. He was the son of Patrick Carnegie of Lour and Margaret St. Clair (Bower) Carnegy.[1]
He married Isabella Don, daughter of William Don, in September 1823. Children of Maj Gen Alexander Carnegie and Isabella Don:
- Mary Anne Carnegie, d. 1899
- Georgina Carnegie, d. 13 Aug 1900
- Isabella Carnegie
- Patrick Carnegie, b. 20 May 1825, d. 1886
- General Alexander Carnegie, b. 30 Jun 1829, d. 25 Oct 1900
He gained the rank of Major-General in the Indian Army and was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.).[2]
Alexander died on 1 August 1862 at age 69 and is buried in Dean Cemetery in Edinburgh.[3][4][5]
