Biography

Frances Carner is a Project Member of the Southern Pioneers Project.

Second of twin daughters to Jos. N and Margaret (Davies) Carner. Attended Little Rock Central High School before entering college (1st) California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland Calif, later receiving a B.F.A. from the College of Art at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Showed professionally for a few years before changing career paths to become a business/systems analyst and architect. Worked around the country, mostly in the Southeast United States, until retirement. Then moved back to Little Rock.

I've been dabbling in genealogy and history for decades. Captured as much as was available in 15 boxes of family papers, documents, and photographs before donating those to state archives. Now working on filling in blanks with the help of genealogists and cousins online.

I have some mysteries to solve and some confidence to improve, particularly with Davis lineages and marriages from 18th century Derby, New Haven, CT area. Likewise working on Lower genealogy, Fairchilds from Connecticut and New York. Some other names that I am looking for particular help for are: (In United States or early colonies): Nodine, Cummins, Price, White (Eastern Europe/Austria-Hungary): Karner, Lukacs, Nagy, Peto

Hi Frances!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Frances, Thank you for following Arkansas and the note on Pulaski County. And Welcome to Wikitree. Yes, I am very far behind in all my Project duties.

Yes, Arkansas is feeling a bit neglected as of late.

Thanks for the reminder.

Oh! I wasn't criticizing. I'll help you though as soon as I get a bit more familiar with how all of this works.

Oh I didn't take it as criticism!!! I believe it was Arkansas talking to me, "Hey, you've worked on your Jesters, your Davises, your Mortons, and other family lines, Its our turn." You were just the conduit. Of course, most of those family lines have been in SWAR since 1850s or earlier. Of course working on those lines is also working on AR, just not those county pages. Truly!!! THANK YOU!!! And you are more then welcome to join the Arkansas Project. But you have joined the Virginia Project and being new, you are in good hands with the VA people. Work at your own pace but don't overload yourself, like I do. Both are part of the US Project. And since nearly everyone started in VA, its more important.

And there is also the Southern Colonists, Southern Pioneers, in other words... something for everyone.

Thanks for having a Big Heart and adopting Orphan Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans to understand what to do next.

Yes, thank you so much. I have been enjoying cleaning up profiles and adding sources. Still learning the WikiTree ropes here, so I might be a bit slow and bound to make some technical mistakes or need a little help.

Want to say, though, that I really like the idea of open, free, world-connected genealogy with some rigor behind the research.

Welcome,

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: New Member How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
