What evidence is there for Elizabeth's maiden name?

The reason I ask is I find a marriage between an Elizabeth Carnes and a William Jordan in Blount Co, AL, in 1820. Can't be the same people, since the William of this profile died by then. Are there two couples with the same names? Or was someone mixed up and gave the Alabama Carnes name to this Elizabeth?

Carnes-948 and Carnes-669 appear to represent the same person because: similar dates same husband name and same son, Dempsey
