Family Life
Through the years
In 1870[1] we find him in Crittenden, Kentucky. His mother onfirms she was born in Tennessee, and we must assume that James has passed away as he isn't listed on the census. In the home are Anna 36, Matlock 11, William 8, James 5 and Clifton 3.
In 1880[2] we find them in Eagle Creek, Gallatin, Illinois. His mother has remarried John T Deniston, and becomes step mother to his children. In the home are John 43, Annie 40, John H Deniston 15(Step child), Walter Deniston 13(Step child), Kittie Deniston 11 (Step child) , Ida 9, Ezekiel 7, Clifton 4(I am assuming they mean 14, unless her son with James had passed away and she had another child with the same name 10 years later.
