Biography

Carroll Fielding Carney was born in 1831 in Pike County, Mississippi. He was first married to Clarissa Williamson on August 17, 1848.[1] The couple are listed together on the 1850 Census[2] with their first child; Henry T. Carney (1849–1916). It is believed that they had two more children (both daughters): Mahala Jane Carney, and Courtney Almeda (Carney) O'Quin. Clarissa passed away sometime between 1856-1860 and Carroll is listed as widowed with his three children on the 1860 Census.[3] Sometime after the 1860 Census; likely the end of 1860 or early 1861 - he was remarried to Georgia Ann Dunaway and they had two children: Theodocia Amanda Carney (1861–1934) and Carroll Fielding Carney Jr (1862–1921). He enlisted in Company F of the Mississippi First Light Artillery[4] and passed away from pneumonia on November 11, 1862.[5]
