Biography

(from FindAGrave Memorial Page): Son of Revolutionary War veteran Robert Carothers, Sr (1750-1837) and Margaret Scott (1753-1826).

Brother of Margaret "Peggy" (Carothers) Garner; Martha (died as a child in North Carolina); Mary (Carothers) McKay; William Carothers (d. 1826, Sumner Co.); James C. Carothers, whose family lived near Robert's; Andrew Carothers (d. 1873) and Jane Caroline (Carothers) Hodge, of Williamson County, Tennessee.

Six months after his father gave him 125 acres in Williamson County with which to start his adult life, Robert Carothers married Elcy Blair on 6 Jan 1816, in Maury County, Tennessee. They were parents of at least five identified children and likely of an infant buried at the foot of Robert's and Elcy's graves.

After the death of his first wife, Robert Carothers married widow Martha Scott (Anthony) Whitsitt, 27 Feb 1843, in Williamson County, Tennessee.

He passed away in 1873.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Robert by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Robert:
