Biography

Alfred William Carpenter was born in 1850 in New York to Hela Carpenter b. 1825 and Martha Jane (Fowles) Carpenter b. 1828 (both born New York). He was a photographer.

He married Mary Jane (Kelley) Carpenter b. 28 Oct 1858 in Indianola, Illinois d. 30 Apr 1937 Peoria, Illinois. Their children were:

  1. George Franklin Carpenter b. 15 Nov 1876 - 1958
  2. Julia Carpenter 1879–
  3. Lillian M. Carpenter b. 7 Mar 1880–1935

Alfred William Carpenter served as a Private 13th Regiment, Illinois Infantry, Union Army.

He died at age 67 on 24 Sep 1917 in Peoria, Illinois and was buried at the Bartonville State Asylum Cemetery in Peoria. [1]
