Alvin Jeremiah Carpenter was born on September 30, 1847, in Columbia, Ohio, his father, John, was 23 and his mother, Clarissa, was 23. He married Mary R Kline on September 15, 1870, in Athens, Ohio. They had three children during their marriage. He died on March 27, 1926, at the age of 78, and was buried in Temple Cemetery, Mount Blanco, Meigs, Ohio.
