Note: Lucinda C. Carpenter was born near Fairfield, Iowa, January 12th, 1847 and died at her home near Bradish, Nebraska, February 29, 1912, aged 65 years, 1 month, and 19 days. At the age of six years she came with her parents to Audubon County, Iowa. On March 16th, 1862 she was united in marriage to James W. Birge. To this union was born five children, one of whom died in infancy. Besides the five surviving children whom mourn the departure of the mother, there are two brothers, three sisters, and fourteen grandchildren. Mrs. Birge lived in this vicinity for many years and is well known to many of the older citizens. She had been for several years a member of the Methodist Church, for some time her in Anita and later where she had been residing. The funeral services incident to her decease were conducted at the Methodist Church. Tuesday, March 5th, at 11 o'clock by Rev. C. C. Smith. [5] [9] [12]
