Abner was born on 21 Dec 1799 in New York. He was the son of Robert Carpenter and Phebe (McNair) Carpenter.

He married Rebecca McNair.[1][2]

He died on 11 Jan 1851 in Vigo, Indiana. He was buried in Kennedy Cemetery.[3]
