Biography

Nathan was born on September 26th, 1700 to Samuel Carpenter and Patience Ide.

November 9th, 1723 a marriage intention was recorded and on December 26th, 1723 he married Patience Tower, the daughter of Benjamin Tower and Deborah Whipple. They had the following children: [1]

After her death, Nathan married:

Abigail (Sabin) Rand born about 1700, their marriage intention was recorded on 16 Jun 1732, she died about 1737 and they are the parents of: [1]

Abigail (Sabin) Rand is the daughter of James Sabin and Abigail Brazier and was married to Benjamin Rand. They had three children:

  • Benjamin Rand, born on 3 Oct 1725 [2], died on 17 Sep 1736
  • Thomas Rand, born on 2 Apr 1727 [3]
  • John Rand, born on Feb 1729/30 died on 11 May 1736 [4]

Abigail died in 1737 and Nathan married the third time to:

In the name of God Amen
I Nathan Carpenter of Hardwick in ye county of Worcester & Providence of ye Massachusetts Bay Husbandman make, publish & declare my last will & testament in manner & form following viz.
1. My will is that my beloved wife Sarah have her lawfull Dower out of my estate ~ ~ ~
2. I give to my son Gideon Carpenter ye sum of one shilling lawfull money ~ ~
3. I give to my Daughter Freelove Chandlers children viz, Hannah, Stephen & Nathan ye sum of one shilling each ~ ~
4. I give to my son Isaiah Carpenter ye sum of one shilling lawfull money
5. I give to my daughter Abigail Searls ye sum of one shilling lawfull money ~ ~
6. I give to my daughter Susanna Benjamin ye sum of one shilling lawfull money ~
7. I give to my daughter Patience Nye ye sum of one shilling lawfull money ~ ~
8. I give to my daughter Sarah Washburn ye sum of one shilling of lawfull money ~
9. I give to my son Joseph Carpenter ye sum of one shilling lawfull money ~ ~ ~
10. I give to my daughter Lydia Carpenter ye sum of six pounds thirteen shillings & four pence lawfull money to be paid her by my Executor herein after mentioned when she shall arrive to ye age of twenty one years or at her marriage either of which shall first happen.
11. I give to my daughter Dinah Carpenter ye sum of six pounds thirteen shillings & four pence lawfull money (to be paid her by my sd executor) when she shall arrive to ye age of twenty one years, or at her marriage either of which shall first happen ~
12. I give and devise to my son in law Silas Nye all ye rest of my Estate real & personal to have & to hold to him & his heirs forever
13. and I do hereby constitute & appoint ye sd Silas Nye to be ye sole Executor of this my last Will & testament ~ ~
In testimony of all which I have here- unto set my hand & seal at Hardwick aforesaid on this twentieth day of May anno domini one thousand seven hundred & sixty nine ~ ~ ~
