Gerretje Carpenter was born 30 September 1777 and baptized on 25 January 1778 in the Reformed Dutch Church of Claverack, New York. The Holland Society handwritten transcript of baptism record names her parents as Walter Carpenter and Maria Huick. The witnesses were Johannes Huick and Feitje Van der Kar.[1] The version of the baptism record published in the NYGBR in names her parents as Walter Carpenter and Maria Huyck and the witnesses as Johannes Huyck and Feitje Van der Kar.[2]
She was married to Henry Shiffer.
Maria, daughter of Henry H. Shiffer and Garritie Carpenter, was baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of Schodack, New York, on 14 December 1800; she was born on 24 October 1800.[3]
The will of Walter Carpenter, created August 5, 1815 and proved March 27, 1816, provided a legacy to his daughter Gerritie Shiffer.[4][5]
