Hannah was born in 1842 in South Shields, County Durham. She married Gilbert Purvis on 20 August 1866[1] at St Hilda's, South Shields, Durham, and together they raised five children. She passed away in 1924[2][3].
England Census of 1871[4]: Hannah was accompanying her husband on a business trip along with their infant son, and was staying in a hotel at 7-8 Augusta Place, Melcombe Regis, Weymouth, Dorset. Today, this hotel is known as the Fairhaven Hotel, Weymouth. Her home address at this time was at 1 Dorset Villas, Washington Cottages, Fisherton Anger, Salisbury, Wiltshire, where her widowed mother-in-law and her two older children appear in the census.[5]
England Census of 1881[6]: Hannah lived with her husband, four children, and her widowed mother-in-law, at 1 Alexander Villas, Hornsey, Middlesex.
England Census of 1891[7]: Hannah lived with her husband, three children, and two servants, at Ingle Neuk, Brackley Rd, Beckenham, Kent.
England Census of 1901[8]: Hannah lived with her husband, four adult children, and two servants, at 107 Broadhurst Gardens, Hampstead.
England Census of 1911[9]: Hannah lived with her husband, daughter, and three servants, at Walliscote, St. Luke's Park, Torquay, Devon.
