Biography

According to Anderson (Great Migration) Caleb Carr, son of Robert, was born say 1650.[1]. Unsourced birth date of 7 Oct 1644 has been removed in favor of about 1650.[1] 23 Aug 1657 is not the birthdate of this Caleb. It is the birth date of Caleb, son of Governor Caleb Carr.[2]

Caleb Carr married Phillipa Greene, daughter of Deputy Governor John Greene of Warwick, R.I. Their first son, Robert died in infancy. After his death in 1690, his widow married Charles Dickinson. [3]

Caleb Carr inherited from his father the latter's land in Conanicut, now Jamestown.[3] He was a Freeman in 1679.[4]

He died in 1690. His will was dated in Jamestown, Jan. 27, "1st of William K. of Gt. B.," (first year of the reign of William King of Great Britain) and proved in Newport, March 30, 1689/90.[5] He made mention of his wife Phillis Carr, sons Caleb, William, Robert and Job; and daughters Mary and Phillis; and also father in law Maj. John Greene, and brother in law, Peter Greene. His wife was executrix of the estate. She was born in Warwick, R.I., Oct. 7, 1658, and married Charles Dickinson for her second husband and had children by him.[3][6][7]

I think this birth date is questionable. I havent seen it anywhere but internet trees and FindAGrave that doesn't have a burial place listed, let alone an image of the stone. Objections to changing it to about 1650?

Caleb is a male; therefore, his spouse's information would seem to be incorrect.

Respectfully submit that Caleb, son of Robert married Phillipa Greene. Also wish to state that Phillipa/Phillis and various spellings all are incorrect. She had three given names and just plain Philip was the the third. Sorry, I did not keep notes of the tree (on Ancestry. com) that had the sources. So many have copied wrong, not going back there.

Respectfully submit that Caleb b. 1657 is the son of Caleb b. 1616. His cousin, Caleb born about 1645-1650 is the son of Robert b. 1614. These two are often confused, being in the same location at the same time.
