Marcrest Carr was born May 2, 1731 in Salisbury, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, son of Sylvanus Carr and Lydia Macrest. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Marcrest married Elizabeth Waite Dec. 11, 1750 in Salisbury. [1] [3] [4]
Their children were:
In 1776 Marcrest Carr is captain of the 9th company, 2nd Lincoln County, Massachusetts Militia under Col. Joseph North, assisting at the recapture of the mastship "Gruell". [5] [6]

[Marcrest] Mecrus Carr, late residing at Dyer's River. Elizabeth Carr, of the same place, widow, Adm'x, 2 Oct., 1779. Book 17 page 153b _25 August 1774 _ Mercies Carr & Co.[of Dyers Meadow] to Jonathan Jones Jr. [of Newcastle] “… Mercies Carr, Joseph Rogers, and Abner Ford all living in a Place called Dyers Meadows out of the Bounds of any Town …” “…said land lying at the foot of Dyers Long Pond so called out of the bounds of any town……two acres each side of the stream running down by the Falls to the dead Water in Dyers Meadow so called…” This would appear to be the mill privileges at Great Dyer Pond, approximately where the present dam is located, thence down Dyers River towards the area containing the Ford cemetery in South Jefferson, Maine.
This deed establishes the above Mercies Carr, Joseph Rogers, and Abner Ford as residents of Dyers Meadow*, now part of present day South Jefferson, Maine, sometime prior to August 1774. Noted: *No reference to Balltown/Ballstown Plantation in this deed.
Mercies Carr is Prince Rogers father-in-law, Prince Rogers married Lydia Carr.
Joseph Rogers is elder son of Moses Rogers, and Prince Rogers’s brother.
Abner Ford’s daughter Silence Ford, married Joseph Carr, son of Mercies Carr.
Moses Rogers’s estate was put into Probate, Lincoln County, in 1772. Volume 1, pages 239 to 241 Reference in Probate records as Moses Rogers of Dyers River. I have found no record to date of the estate settlement. I suspect from the above deed, that Mr. Carr and Mr. Ford, may have may have retrieved the estate from probate. Thus, the Mercies Carr and Co., was able to sell this part of Moses Rogers’s,1766, grant, to Jonathan Jones Jr., in 1774.
