Nancy, born February 4, 1822, is the daughter of William Carr and Nancy Ann Lee Carr. She married David E. Lawhon on February 20, 1840 in Jefferson County, Republic of Texas.[1]
Around 1839 the family settled in Jefferson County, where David went into ranching. The family moved to Bastrop County around 1860 and later to Williamson County.[2]

The 1850 United States Census locates the family in Jefferson County, Texas. Children listed are: Martha, John C., William J., Caroline M. and David B.[4]
The 1860 United States Census incorrectly lists the name as Laughon locates the family in Precinct 1, Orange, Texas. Additional children listed are: Nancy E., Hugh L. and James W.[5]

Gardner-Lawhon Cemetery: This cemetery is reported in various sources as being located in two different counties, near more than one old town and by several names. Gardner-Lawhon Cemetery is the appropriate name. It is located Williamson County just inside the Williamson and Lee County line. The land was donated by Marmaduke Gardner for the use of the Gardner and Lawhon families.
The cemetery is located inside the Down Home Ranch located at 20250 FM 619, northeast of Elgin, Texas. Visitors are welcome but must request entrance at the gate.
