Mills was born in 1834. Mills Carr was a Civil War veteran; he served in Company "H," 3rd Indiana Infantry Regiment.
From the data entered on line 11 of the 1900 US Census,[1] we learn that he was residing at Township 20 N. Range 20 E., Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, United States. This was the 125th house and 126th family visited by the enumerator. Mills was the head of the household, 65 years old, and identified as white. Mills was born in Indiana in January 1835. Mills was married for 41 years (in 1859), had nine children of whom seven were then living. His father was born in Georgia, and his mother was born in North Carolina. Mills gave his occupation as farmer. He could read & write, and speak English. There is no indication for rent or own; however, it indicates he was living on a farm (rather than house).
He passed away in 1910 (great-grandaughter Dorothy Carr Graff writes that he died 04 May 1910), and was buried at Dow Cemetery, Gravette, Benton County, Arkansas.[2]
