Biography

This profile is part of the Carr Name Study.

Ralph Edward Carr was born on 30th June 1833 and christened on the 2nd August that year in Eglingham.[1]

He went to Rugby School in 1846.[2]

In 1851, he was 18 and at home in Gateshead with his family.[3]

He was commissioned into 39th Infantry Regiment in 1852. He commanded the 1st battalion 36th Regiment from Dec 1877- July 1881. A nice little military biography is [3]here


He married Anne Wedgwood on 10 Sept 1870 at Cosheston, Pembroke. [4] He commanded the 1st battalion 36th Regiment from Dec 1877- July 1881. He died in Stutgart in April 1892.[5]

He presented Whistles as awards for the Officers of the best shooting company. These are in the Regimental Museum[6]

He died in April 1892 in Stuttgart, Germany.[7]
