Paul Carr, an actor best known for his work in television, films, and stage, has died in his home on Feb. 17 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Paul appeared in hundreds of TV show including Quincy, Rockford Files, FBI, Dallas, Murder She Wrote, and will always be remembered as Lt. Lee Kelso in the pilot for Star Trek. He performed at The Mark Taper Forum appearing in "The Biko Inquest," "Celebration," and "Slivovitz" and also worked at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC. where he appeared in "The Chemmy Circle." In 1987 Paul received the LA Weekly Award for Best Actor in the Theatre East production of "Manhattan Express" and a 1995 Dramalogue Award for his portrayal of "Sam Byck" in the Los Angeles Repertory production of "Assassins." Paul will be missed by his very brave 15 year old son, Michael; his wife, two daughters, two granddaughters, and countless friends. His kindness of heart, gentle spirit and extraordinary courage are an inspiration to all who knew him. Rest well, Paul. Actor. He was born in New Orleans (Louisiana) and died in Los Angeles (California). He began his acting career at the young age of 17. After performing for various theatrical productions in New Orleans, Paul would eventually move to New York City and study acting at the American Theatre Wing. For the next six years, Paul would work in summer stock, Broadway plays and live television. He appeared in over 150 films and TV shows during his lengthy career. Trekkies remember Mr. Carr for his role as Lt. Kelso in the pilot episode of the original "Star Trek." His credits include "77 Sunset Strip," "The Rockford Files," "Felony Squad," "The F.B.I.," "The Mod Squad," "The Six Million Dollar Man," "Gunsmoke," "The Time Tunnel," "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea," "The Invaders," "Twelve O'Clock High," "Combat!," "Land of the Giants," "The Green Hornet," "Police Story," "Perry Mason," "Mission Impossible," "Get Smart," "Adam-12" and "Hawaii 5-0." He entering in cinema, in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Wrong Man." Among his film credits are "Raise the Titanic," "Ben," "Truck Stop Women," "Executive Action," "The Bat People" and "Captain Newman M.D." Also he is remembered in the TV movie "The Deadly Tower."
