Biography

Early Life

Marvel was born in 1918 to David and Bessie Carr.[1]

First Marriage

Marvel married Marvin Weisbrod on June 24, 1938 at Spencer Pentecostal Church. After their marriage they lived in a tenant house on the Weisbrod farm while Marvin worked for his father. They later moved to a farm West of Spencer owned by Marvel's father, David. Their first son, Gary, was born in the Spencer hospital. They soon moved to Buffalo, NY where Marvin was training to work on military airplanes. When he was finished with his training they bought a trailer home for their journey back to the midwest, stopping in Iowa to visit family, then settling in Belleview, Nebraska where he worked in the Boeing plant. Later, they built a brick house and their second son, Daniel, was born shortly after. Marvin's mother came to visit the family in 1945, but had a stroke upon returning home. The family moved back to Spencer and soon bought their own farm. After Marvin's mother's death, his father remarried to Bessie Carr, Marvel's widowed mother. Marvin and Marvel moved to Minnesota where Marvin worked as a carpenter at the U of M. They bought a farm in Mahtomedi, but later moved to White Bear Lake. Marvin became sick with cancer in 1963, had surgery and was able to recover and resume work. He worked hard to renovate their home so it would be a good place for Marvel to live for many years to come. The cancer returned in 1975 and he died at home on January 20th.

Later Years

Marvel continued to live in their White Bear Lake home, renting out a portion of the home while she lived there.[2] She was a member of Apostolic Bible Institute[3] and later, Apostolic Bible Church. In 1997 Marvel married Rev. Rudy Bowe in St Paul, MN. They had both been attending Apostolic Bible Church for many years[4] They lived happily together until Rudy's death in 2008. Marvel passed away a few years later in 2011.
