↑ Source: #S935 Page: 128 TMPLT FIELD Name: Page VALUE 128 Quality or Certainty of Data: 2 QUAL Information: S Data: Text: Whereas William Carr son of Aquila Carr deceased, & Susanna (Parrish) his wife of Baltimore County in Maryland and Sarah Herbert daughter of William Herbert and Ann his wife of said county having declared their intentions of marriage with each other before several monthly meetings of Gunpowder of the people called Quakers held at Baltimore town according to the good order used amongst them and having consent of parents and parties concerned their said proposals of marriage were allowed of by the said monthly meeting. CONT Now these are to certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing their said intentions this third day of the eighth month in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety one. They the said WIlliam Carr and Sarah Herbert appeared in a publick meeting of the said people held at Gunpowder in said county and the said William Carr taking the said Sarah Herbert by the hand did in a solemn manner openly declare that he took her to be his wife promiseing with divine assistance to be unto her a loving and faithful husband until it should please the Lord by death to seperate them or words to that effect and then and there in the same assembly the said Sarah Herbert did in like manner declare that she took the said William Carr to be her husband promiseing to be unto him a faithful wife until it should please the Lord by death to seperate them or words to that effect. Moreover they the said William Carr and Sarah Herbert (she according to the custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband as a full confirmation) did then and there to these presents set their hands, and we whose names are under written being present at the solemnization of said marriage & subscription have as witnesses thereof hereunto set our hands the day and year above written.
