Biography

Educated at St Paul's School, London, and St John's College, Cambridge, admitted as a sizar on 1 Oct 1757, and awarded degree of LL.B in 1772; ordained deacon 21 Dec 1763 by Bishop Osbaldeston of London and priest on 3 Mar 1765 by Bishop Thomas of Winchester; assistant curate of Strethall, Essex, 21 Dec 1763; curate of Old Brentford, Middlesex; curate of Minstead, Hampshire, 03 Mar 1765;set up Brook House school in Twickenham in 1765; vicar of Feltham, Middlesex, from 5 Aug 1771 to 29 Apr 1778; appointed royal chaplain to Prince William Henry, Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh (1743-1805) on 29 Sep 1778; vicar of Ealing, Middlesex, from 21 Sep 1797 to death; vicar of Asheldham, Essex, in 1797, royal chaplain to Prince Edward Augustus, duke of Kent (1767-1820) from 15 Oct 1810.[1]
