Biography

Joseph James Carrabis age 92, of Manchester, NH, passed on November 8, 2013 at 6:30 am at the Elliott Hospital in Manchester,NH, after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Rocco Carrabis and Caterina d’Avino Carrabis of Melrose, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, James and Anthony Carrabis and by 6 sisters, Mary DeLeo, Carmella Barrasso, Eleanor Carrabis, Anna Infurna, Florence Gagliadri and Lilian Riley. Mr. Carrabis leaves behind 3 children , Bernadette Perry of Manchester, Sandra Scullin of Stoneham, Mass. and Joseph D. Carrabis of Nashua, 7 Grandchildren, Raymalene Billetdeaux of Vermont, Donald Perry and Kenneth Perry of Manchester, Kristal Cupples of Texas, John B. Scullin and Jennifer Scullin of Stoneham, Mass. and David J. Michalak , also 8 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren, as well as his brothers John Carrabis of Saugus, Mass. And Alfred Carrabis of Lowell, Mass., and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Carrabis served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, in Vergennes, Vermont . He was employed by Chamberlain (A Division of Armor & Company) as a beef cutter and boner in Massachusetts, Upon moving to NH, he then worked for Granite State Meat Packing in 1959, Jac Pac Meat Packing and finally Schonland's before retiring. Mr. Carrabis enjoyed gardening in his back yard with his grandson Donald, who also helped him with the upkeep of his home. A home he built with the help of his father Rocco Carrabis. He enjoyed working on cars in his garage and cooking, which he shared his knowledge of with his grandchildren. He made an unparalleled hot sauce for pasta! As per Mr. Carrabis’ request there will be no Funeral Service or Funeral Mass., no wake or obituary. He requested for immediate cremation.
