Mr. Julian 'Shorty' Carranza, Sr., 66, of Sinton, Texas died October 19, 2011 at his sister's home surrounded by family and friends.

His parents were the late Ruben and Aurora Lamas Carranza. He was one of six siblings.

Julian was a volunteer Fireman in Crosbyton, Texas.

He was employed as a truck driver for over 30 years most recently with Cornell Carriers LLC.

He is survived by his sons: Julian Carranza, Jr. and Jose (Yvonne) Carranza both of Lubbock, Texas; daughters: Christina of Sinton, Texas and Jennifer of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren: Ramona of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Cody and Dakota of Sinton, Texas, Dustin of Lubbock, Texas, Karina of Memphis, Texas and Jazlyn of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters: Simona, Maria (Alfredo) and Virginia, all of Sinton, Texas; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Carranza was preceded in death by his parents; son Carlos Carranza; grandchildren Monique Aguirre, Carlos Jose 'CJ' Aguirrre, Nikki Carranza, Tonia Carranza and Renee Carranza; brothers Luis Carranza and Natividad 'Nate' Carranza; and sister Amada Perez.

Visitation will begin Thursday, October 20, 2011, 6:00 P.M. at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A rosary will be held Friday, October 21, 2011, 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 22, 2011, 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Sinton with Father Shaji Varghese as celebrant. Burial to follow at Eternal Rest Cemetery, Sinton.
