Biography

George W. Carrick was born about 1836, in Maine..[1]

30 July 1850, the family was living in Rutland, Dane County, Wisconsin: father, L, 52, a farmer born in New Brunswick; E, 47, wife and mother, born in Maine; and three sons, all born in Maine, G. W., 17, a farmer, Charles, 11, and E, 6.[2]

22 October 1857, this Carrick family was living in Township 121, range 23, Wright County, Minnesota territory: Lemuel, 55, born in New Brunswick, farmer; Elizabeth, 55, born in Maine; Samuel, 27, born in Maine, farmer; James, 24, born in Maine, farmer; George, 22, born in Maine, farmer; Charles, 18, born in Maine; Charles, 18, born in Maine; Mary E, 14, born in Maine. Also: Lucy Lovejoy, 16, born in Maine; Lucy Lovejoy, 56, born in Maine; G W Perkins, 18, born in Maine; and W T Lovejoy, 18, born in Maine.[3]


15 July 1860, the family was living in Otsego, Wright County, Minnesota: father, "Samuel", 62, a farmer born in New Brunswick; Elisabeth, 58, wife and mother, born in Maine; three sons, farmers born in Maine, Samuel, 30, George, 24, and Charles, 21; and one daughter, Elisabeth, 16; also, Lucy Lovejoy, 17; Hannah Lovejoy,15; William Lovejoy, 20, a laborer; and James Carrick, 26 a lumberman, all born in Maine.[4]

In 1865, this Carrick family was living in Otsego, Wright County, Minnesota: George W, Mary A, and Angeline. They are listed between Joseph L and Lemuel Carrick.[5]

14 June 1870, this Carrick family was living in Otsego, Wright County, Minnesota: father, George W, 34, a farmer, real estate valued at $1000, personal estate valued at $600, born in Maine, parents born in US; and three children born in Minnesota: Angeline E, 6; Samuel A, 3; and Margareth, 1. This Chamberlain family are with them: Newton, 28, carpenter and joiner, born in Wisconsin; and Eugenie, 17, keeping house, born in New York. NOTE: The households of Lemuel Carrick and Joseph S Carrick are near this one.[6]

Maryett Thorpe, of Connecticut, married George Carrick, 17 August, 1863. She died in June 1870, leaving three children; Anna, Maryett, and William H. George Carrick married Miss Celia Gould, of Otsego, 10 September 1872. They had two children, Clinton A. was alive in 1881.[7]

7 June 1880, this Carrick family was living in Otsego: Geo W, 44, farmer, born in Maine, parents from Canada and Maine; Celia,27, wife, born in Maine, parents from N. H. and Maine; Anna, 16, at school, born in Minn, parents from Maine; Maryetta, 10, at school, born in Minn, parents from Maine; Clinton, 7, born in Minn, parents from Maine; and William, 5, born in Minn, parents from Maine. NOTE: Gould and Thorpe families are on the same page.[8]

20 May 1885, this Carrick family was living in Otsego: Geo., 49, born in Maine; Alia, 31, born in Maine; Annie, 21, born in Minn.; Etta, 16, born in Minn.; Clinton, 12, born in Minn.; and Pearson, 75, born in NH. [9]

G. W. Carrick died and was buried, 25 February 1891, in Otsego, MN.[10]
