Jacob was born about 1808 in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Phoebe Lamb and Jacob Carrier were married on 9 Jan 1831 in Livingston County, Kentucky. Based on US Census and other records, they had at least the following children, all born in Kentucky:

  • Ruth M Carrier, b. ca. 1832; m. Uriah F. Householder 20 Oct 1851 Union , Kentucky[1]
  • Simeon (Simon) L. Carrier, b. ca. 1834; d. 13 Mar 1919 Evansville, Vanderburgh, Indiana[2][3]
  • William Henry Carrier, b. 31 Oct 1833??; d. 14 April 1912 Boxville, Union, Kentucky[4]
  • Harriet Almeda Carrier, b. ca. 1837; m. David Woodring 11 Dec 1856 Union, Kentucky[5][6]
