Biography

Norman was born in Detroit, Michigan on 25 Dec 1896,[1] or 25 Dec 1897.[2] He was the son of Julius Carrier and Margaret Cassidy.[3]

In 1910, Norman lived with his parents, Julius and Maggie Carrier, and 5 siblings in Detroit. Julius worked in a blacksmith shop.[4]

When he registered for the World War 1 Draft, Norman Joseph Carrier said he was 21 years old, born on 25 Dec 1897 in Detroit, Michigan. He lived at 510 Taylor Av., Detroit, and worked for Once'd. Mfg. at 2661 No. Gd. Blvd. His nearest relative was his mother, Mrs. Margaret Carrier of the same home address. His father was born in Chatham, Canada. Norman was of medium height and build, with brown hair and brown eyes.[2]

Norman enlisted on 5 Aug 1918 at a Pvt., Company A, 25th M.G. (Machine Gun) Bn., 9th Bn, 9th Div., US Army. He was honorably discharged on 11 March 1919.[5]

In 1920, Norman "V. Carier" lived with his widowed mother, Margarete Carier, and 8 siblings in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan. Norman worked as a trimmer in an auto factory. [6]

In 1930, Margaret "Corrier" lived in Detroit with four children, including Norman, who works as a trimmer in an automobile factory.[7]

In 1940, Norman Carrier, a 42 year old gear roller in an auto factory, lived at 424 Hickory, Troy, Oakland, Michigan, with his wife and two children. [8]

Norman Joseph "Currier" registered for the World War 2 Draft in 1942. He lived at 32 Starr Drive, Troy Twp., Oakland, Michigan. His mailing address was RFD 4, Birmingham, Michigan. He was 45 years old, born on 25 Dec 1896 in Detroit. He worked at the Chevrolet Gear and Axle Plant on Holbrock St., Detroit. His contact was Mrs. Mae Currier of the same home address.[9]

Norman Carrier died in Hart, Oceana, Michigan, on 17 June 1952.[3][1] He is buried at the Hart Cemetery, Hart, Oceana, Michigan.[10] You can see a picture of his gravestone at FindAGrave. It shows that he fought in World War 1 as a private, 25th M.G. Battalion, 9th Division.
