Biography

Noah Carrier was born in Opelousas, St Landry, Louisiana, on 24 Nov 1874 to Armond Carrier and Clement Saintcyr,[1][2] however, according to his gravestone, Noah Carrier was born on 24 Nov 1875.[3]

In 1880, Armand Carriere, a farmer, lived with his wife Clementine, and five children, including "Noel," in the 1st Ward, St Landry, Louisiana.[4]

Estelle Charles and Noah Carriere were married in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, on 06 Jan 1897. The ceremony was performed by Rev. L. Mailluchet, and the witnesses were Eno and Adam Carriere.[5] From US Census and other records, they had at least the following children:

  • Ivy Emmett Carrier, son b. 8 November 1897[6]
  • Joseph Carrier, b. ca. 1901
  • Jeral Carrier, b. ca. 1905
  • Ellanorie Carrier, b. ca. 1909
  • Clement Carrier, b. ca. 1912
  • Velma Carrier, b. ca. 1915; m. Harry Benz

In 1910, Noah, a general farmer, lived with his wife and four children in Police Jury Ward 1, St Landry, Louisiana.[7]

When he registered for the World War 1 Draft on 12 Sept 1918, Noah "Carriere" said he was 43 years old, born on 24 Nov 1874. He lived at No. 1, Point Barre, St. Landry, Louisiana, and worked for himself as a farmer. His nearest relative was Estella C. Carriere of the same address. He was of medium height and build, with brown hair and brown eyes, and he could barely see out of his right eye.[2]

In 1920, Noah lived on a farmer he owned in Police Jury Ward 1, St Landry, Louisiana, with his wife Estela and five children.[8]

In 1930, Noah lived in Port Arthur, Jefferson, Texas, with his wife and two daughters. He works in his own grocery store.[9]

Noah died on 2 Mar 1932 at Port Arthur, Jefferson, Texas, USA,[1] and is buried at the Saint Landry Church Cemetery, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[3]
