Biography

Marriage to Angeline Harper February 13, 1845 according to scanned marriage bond. They were married by his father, Daniel Carroll.

The 1850 census shows him in Carter County, living with his wife and family.

Enlisted in the 22nd Kentucky Infantry in 1861, deserted according to rosters.

Nelson received a 300 acre Land Grant in Carter County in 1866, located on Big Sinking Creek, in the same area of his father's and brother's land grants.

Last found in the 1900 census, even though his tombstone says he died in 1880, soon after his wife. He actually married a second time to a Hodge, and lived at least another 20 years. 1900 census estimates his birth date as 1813.
