Biography

Charles Egerton Carroll was born on 3rd July 1880 in Hilton, Hertfordshire, England. He was baptised on 1st August 1880 at Hilton. ^[1] He was the son of Rev. Thomas Carroll and Mary Roe.

In the census of 1881 he was living with his parents and siblings. ^[2]

In 1900 he qualified as 2nd mate of a foreign ship in the merchant navy. ^[3]

He married Mary Georgina Lawrence in New Zealand in 1903 ^[4]and they had 6 children.

In the census of 1911, he was living with his wife and children. ^[5]

Charles was still in the merchant navy in 1918. ^[6] He rose to the tank of Lieutenant Commander ^[7]

He passed away in England in 1935. ^[8] and was buried n the Southampton Old Cemetery. ^[9]
