Cavan, Ireland. John died 1900 in Westville, Franklin Co. NY. and Ellen Carroll, born 1813, Blackstep, Knockbride, Co. Cavan and died 1871, Westille, Franklin Co . Ellen's sister, Anne ( called Nancy), born 1805,Blackstep,married(about 1830) in Ireland, Neil McCaffrey, born 1801, Ireland & died Malone, Franklin Co NY on 18 Nov. 1883. Starting on library next.. Thought I'd take a break and send you some information on my Duffy's.  John and Ellen had  eight children, all living to maturity.  You have information on Catherine, born Ireland, baptized 6 March 1839, according to the Knockbride Parish Record 1835-1860, film # 93613. I haven't a date of death, but sometime after 1880 John  Ellen & Catherine arrived New York  after March 1839, possibly though Quebec. They are listed on the 1840 Federal Census as living in Malone, Franklin Co. New York. Their other children were :  Phillip, born 4 Nov. 1840, Malone- died 24 Sep. 1913 at his brother-in laws home in Fay ( a little outside of  Westville, NY.) My grandmother, ( his niece) said  he suffered a stroke in his twenties that left him partially paralyzed, affecting one arm or a leg, she couldn't remember which, but he was still able to run his farm. Margaret Jane, born 8 May 1843, Malone- died 6 May 1900- Westville., never married. Was a nurse; lived with her father John.  Her Godparents were Neil and Ann ( Carrol) McCaffrey, although on the baptismal record he is listed as Caffrey.( Source-St. Patrick's Hogansburg Parish records) She was baptized at the Catholic Mission in Malone John James, born  May of 1846, Malone- died 21 Sep1918, Minneapolis, MN. Was a conductor for the St. Louis Railway.. Married Catherine Tierney ( 1860-1938) 25 Feb. 1879.Cheyenne City, Wyoming. Three sons, Harry ( 1882-1950 ) George ( 1884-1967) Raymond (1893-1940) Only Harry married & had two sons- Harry John ( 1915-1992 ) & James Joseph ( 1919-2013) Ellen M., born 1848, Malone died 27 July 1880. On 29 Oct 1879 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Malone, she married John J.. McCauley. Since there is a ten month time span from wedding date to  her death  it's possible she died during childbirth, but then other causes are possible also.I haven't been able verify her cause of death or where she is buried. Her parents and siblings ( that stayed in Franklin Co.) are buried at St. Joseph Cemetery, Malone, but she isn't among them.Husband John is a complete mystery. He seems to have left Malone before Dec. 1882 and fallen of the end of the earth. Alfred Eugene ( my G-grandfather) born 7 July 1851, Malone- died 11 mar. 1905, Minneapolis, MN. ( Typhoid Fever) buried St. Mary's Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Married on 16 Oct.1886, Hennipen Co. Minnesota ,Mary Anne Lamb ( 29 Jul 1852 Illinois -1 May 1911 Seattle, WA.) Alfred was a Conductor on the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, NE until the family moved to Minneapolis in 1893, the he was a brakeman for the Minneapolis & St. Louis Railroad until his death. He had four daughter, 1.  My grandmother Ellyne Rose ( called Nell ) (20 July 1887, Omaha NE- 27July 1973, Morro Bay, CA.) married Edmund Miller Burroughs  on 26 Nov. 1921, Seattle, WA.   Ed born 14 Mar. 1886, Paw Paw, Michigan- 7 Feb. 1963, San Luis Obispo, CA) They had four children . My mother Imogene Marie, 30 Dec. 1922 Cle Elum, WA.- 14 Nov. 2004, Salem, OR. William Edmund,11 Aug. 1927, Los Angeles, CA- 11 Feb. 2008, Atascadero, CA, Joan Illeane,5 Sept. 1929, San Luis Obispo CA- living, Robert Eugene 2 Dec. 1931, San Luis Obispo, 23 Nov. 2001, Bullhead City, AZ. 2. Mary Ann- 3 Oct 1888, Omaha NE- 23 Oct, 1924, Seattle WA ( Typhoid Fever) never married. Business agent for the Telephone Union. 3. Jessie Frances- 17 Oct 1890, Omaha NE- 19 Sept. 1966, San Luis Obispo, CA. Married twice, on 22 Nov. 1919, Seattle. to John ( Jack) Brewer. One son Robert William, born 15 Oct. 1920, Seattle, WA.-19 May 1998 Pryor, OK. After Jack's death in 1936, in 1939 she married Paul Cooper Abbott who survived her. 4. Grace Agnes ( called Pinky) 20 Aug. 1892, Omaha, NE- 27 July 1987, Woodland hills, CA. Married 29 Jan 1917 Harvey McDonald in Seattle. One son Jack born 16 July 1928, Inglewood, CA-Living Charles C. born 1853, Malone-died  ?  I can't find him after 1880, when he was still living with family in Malone-listed as a miner on the 1880 census. Seems the family lost trace of him too. After John Duffy's death in 1900 notification by newspaper was sent out for him or his heirs to contact the court since they were heirs to John's estate, but there was no response. Julia Ann - Apr. 1856, Westville Franklin Co. NY,- 13 Mar.1933, Westville.Married 29 April 1908 to Patrick H. Carlin, widower. Julia helped run her fathers farm, in fact she was listed as head on the 1900 census as " Farmer"  Well, this probably more information than you ever wanted to know No SOUR record found with id S568.
