Ellen was born about 1812, in Ireland. She was the daughter of Thomas Carroll (abt.1790-abt.1850) and Julia (Isabella) Foley (1770-1840).[1] Ellan married Thomas Dillon (abt.1798-1876) in Ireland. The family emigrated after 1852, the birth of their last child in Ireland.
In 1860, the family is living in Chicopee, Massachusetts.[2]
