"When Alice Carroll was born in October 1879 in Iowa, her father, Emmett, was 64, and her mother, Hester, was 50. She had five brothers and two sisters. She died in 1923 in Port Townsend, Washington, at the age of 44, and was buried in Quilcene, Washington.
Emmet and dau Alice moved to Port Townsend WA in 1888 when his adult son Warren moved there with his law practice. Alice cared for Emmet until he died 1902 and then she married. She was the organist at the Methodist church in Port Townsend and we have records of Emmet's tithe there . [She] waited till her father died in Port Townsend, Washington where they and Warren were living, then married Alfred M. Gastineau."
