Biography

US Black Heritage Project
Annie (Carroll) Cook is a part of US Black heritage.

Annie Mae Carroll, adopted daughter of Edward Carroll and May Lewis, was born in 1907.

In 1920, she was living with her adoptive parents in Bolivar county, Mississippi and attending school. [1]

Annie was the mother of legendary soul musician Sam Cooke.

She died in 1967[2] and is buried in Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip, Illinois.[3]
