Thomas was born in 1763. He was the son of Thomas Carson and Mary Dawson.
He was educated by Mr Burrowes and entered Trinity College Dublin on 10 May 1780, aged 16. B.A. 1785. [1]
He was ordained Deacon at Cloyne on 2 November 1788, and Priest, also at Cloyne, on 1 August 1790.
He was licensed to the curacy of Mogeely on 3 November 1788, and held that post until 1794. From 1795 to 1796 he was Vicar Ahem, and Rector Bretway; from 1796 to 1805, Vicar Clondulane and Templebodane; and from 1805 to 1816, Rector, Vicar Clonmult. He was also from 1799 to 1816, Rector, Vicar Kilmahon (Cloyne).
On 27 March 1797, he was appointed Domestic Chaplain to Murrough, 5th Earl of Inchiquin.
Thomas married Elizabeth Waggett, eldest daughter of Christopher Waggett, of Kitsborough, co. Cork, and Johanna Barkley, on 16 September 1802. [2]

He died in 1816 and was buried on 2 September 1816, in Kilmahon Churchyard.
