Elizabeth Carson was born about 1859 in Buittle, Kirkcudbrightshire. Her parents were John Mckean Carson (labourer and quarryman) and Elizabeth Stewart. She can be found living at the Fell with her parents in the 1861 and 1871 Censuses. Elizabeth had been working as a domestic servant when she had a daughter born out of wedlock in 1880, named Mary Carson. Elizabeth's parents, who were living at Thorny Brook, raised this child as their own (Mary can be found in the 1881 Census as their granddaughter, and in the 1891 Census as their daughter). In 1881, at the age of 22, Elizabeth was working as a dairy maid at Auchenleck, Rerrick, Kirkcudbrightshire. Elizabeth married Harry Coker, rancher, sometime after the 1881 Census, and was widowed by 1900, when she married Alexander Lindsay. At the time of her 2nd marriage, she was living in Pool, Wigtown. Alexander, Elizabeth and his children were living in at 22 Anderson Street, Springburn, in 1901. Elizabeth passed away at the age of 72 at Bagbie Bar Cottage, Carsluith, Kirkmabreck Parish, Kirkcudbrightshire on September 30, 1931.
