When Mary Carson was born on 12 March 1809, her father, Robert, was 29, and her mother, Sarah, was 22. She married Alexander Struthers on 6 July 1834 in Lanarkshire. They had nine children in 16 years. She died on 16 October 1899 at the impressive age of 90. Mary like her siblings lived at various times in Kilmarnock and Glasgow
