On January 13, 1861, William, his parents, James and Margaret and his siblings, Hugh, Jane, Margaret, James and Robert were residing on the family farm at Amaranth Township, Wellington County, Canada West. They lived in a 1 1/2 storey log house. William was a labourer.^[1]
