ancestry.com Funeral services for Dean Charles Carstensen, 79, of Browerville were held on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Father John Caskey officiating. Dean passed away on Tuesday, August 2 at his home in Browerville. Dean was born June 1, 1926 in Long Prairie to John and Catherine (Spieker) Carstensen of Browerville. He married Evelyn Clasemann on June 10, 1947 at St. Peter's Church in Browerville. Dean held many different jobs in his lifetime in Browerville. He owned and operated a dairy farm while also working as a milk truck driver. For twenty-five years he drove school bus for Browerville Schools. More recently he's worked for area potato farmers. Perhaps his favorite jobs dealt with him and his Bobcat (skid-loader). In the winters he'd plow snow for several people around Browerville. During the rest of the year he was very active with his Bobcat whether it was picking rock ("picking stone" as he called it), moving dirt for landscaping, or moving scrap metal. He was extremely handy with mechanics and would attempt and usually succeed in fixing whatever might be broken. He loved helping people so much that it was a regular occurrence for someone to call him at home for some sort of help and he'd be on his way there to help in a few short minutes. He was a wonderful father, grandpa and great-grandpa. For many years Dean has been an usher at Christ the King Church. He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus and the VFW. He served in the U.S. Army just prior to the end of World War II. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Geisenhof (1982) and his parents. Dean is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 58 years; four children, Dennis (Betty) Carstensen of Rice, Wayne (Gail) Carstensen of Browerville, Ken (Rose) Carstensen of Browerville and Roger (Chris) Carstensen of Sauk Rapids; one brother, Myron of Torrence, California; fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Honorary urn bearers were Gary Feist, Ray Perish and Ray Reibestein. Urn bearers were Jeff Carstensen, Chuck Carstensen, Bryan Carstensen, Curt Carstensen, Eric Carstensen, Kenny Carstensen Jr. and Jacob Carstensen. Military honors were provided by American Legion 293 and VFW Post 8391. Interment was held at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, Browerville.
