Biography

Fanny Carter was christened 19 May 1842 in Baldon Marsh, Oxfordshire, England,^[1] and, presumably, was born shortly before. The records suggest that she never left Oxfordshire during her life; the various locations mentioned in the records are villages and hamlets, most within a few miles of each other.

In the 1851 census, she is recorded as living with her parents in Toot Baldon.^[2]

During the quarter April-June 1865, she married James Buckingham, a stone mason, in Chipping Norton.^[3] The marriage resulted in six children: Ellen, Louise, Eliza, John, George, and Flossie.

The April 1871 census recorded the family living in Chipping Norton^[4] as did the 1891 census.^[5] The 1881 census reported the residence as Salford.^[6]

Fanny died during the quarter Oct-Dec 1891 in Chipping Norton.^[7]
