Biography

Rachel was born in Bledsoe Tennessee to Levi Carter and Elizabeth Howard. Elizabeth is the dau. of John Howard and Rebecca Brittain neighbors that never married and bore a child out of wedlock Rachel's Mother Elizabeth.

Early in live Rachel traveled from Bledsoe to Franklin Pulaski CO. Missouri where her father passed. A large crew of travlers left bledsoe at the same time. Most had Indian Heritage somewhere in their family. Carter, Kelley, Rollins, Rogers, Dunlacy, Ward

Her sister died between 1855 and 1863, Rachel then marries her husband as he was homesteading in Dixon Missouri 160 acers. Date of marriage est. based on birth of first child in March of 1863. David's eldest children from Rutha had already moved onto Indian Territory in Oklahoma, as well as her Uncle Alexander Carter and his family.
