Obituary

CARTER, Walter Carmichael — Devoted husband, father, grandfather and long-serving politician. Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, January 20, 2002, in the presence of his loving family. Mr. Carter leaves with loving memories, his best friend and devoted wife of 52 years, Muriel (Baker); his children: Roger (Cris), Donna Green (Wayne), Dave (Marianne), Paul (Pam), Glen (Jayne), Bonnie Summers (Gary), Greg (Tina), Susan Ralph (John); his grandchildren: Dana, Geoffrey, Sarah; Krista, Melissa; Angie, Andrew; Jill, Matthew; Philippe; Vanessa, Stephanie; Will; John and Courtney. Also leaving to mourn are his sisters: Mary Fleetwood (Bob), Mississippi, Kay Catrara, Toronto; his brother Dr. Allister Carter (Heather), Miramichi; his special in-laws: Molly Bainbridge, Florida, Myrtle Hines, Allan Baker (Iris), Jeannette Grant (Kelvin), Glenys Walters (Harold); Carolynn Browne (Bill); and Debbie Gill (Terry); and many nephews, nieces, special friends Ambrose and Bessie Peddle; and his little dog Sandy. Visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. Funeral Services will be held at St. Thomas' Anglican Church on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in his memory to the Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation.[2]
