Biography

Jordan E. Cravens Carter was born 26 June 1880 in Hobart, Yell County, Arkansas. [1] He was the son of Joseph McCarrell Carter and Elizabeth Matilda Williams. [2] He married Maggie Gately 4 August 1901, Yell County, Arkansas. [3] He passed away 3 March 1957 in Bakersfield, Kern County, California. He was interred in Wasco Memorial Park, Wasco, Kern County, California. [4]

CARTER, Jordan E. - Funeral services for Jordan E. Carter, 76, 2002 17th St., Bakersfield, will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Wasco. Brother Monroe will officiate. Interment will be in the Wasco Cemetery. The Robert l. Jones Funeral Home is in charge. Carter, a native of Paris, Ark., had lived in Bakersfield five years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Allie Mabel Carter; 6 sons, Gerald and Harold Curtis Carter, both of Bakersfield, Jordan (Jack) Carter of Wasco, Foye E. Carter of Porterville, Russell Carter of Kansas City, Mo., and Paul S. Carter of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one daughter, Mrs. Merle Terry of Modesto; one brother, G. W. Carter of Ozark, Ark.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ann Miller of Mountain view and Mrs. Louise Fairless of Ashland, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
