Emmaline Carter (married name Ralston) was born in 1856 at Barkers Creek, Kevington, Victoria, Australia[1]. Her parents were John Benjamin CARTER and Maria JAGO.
...At the great age of 85 years, Mrs Emmaline Ralston died at Katunga on Tuesday last. She was a woman highly respected by all in the district, and the family has received many messages of condolence. The deceased lady arrived in the district as a bride about 1878 with her husband (the late William Ralston), who predeceased her 33 years ago. She was a sister of Mr William Carter, of Katunga, and is thought to be the last of the pioneer selectors in that district. She had lived on the original farm until the time of her death, and could talk very interestingly of the changes that had occurred in customs and modes of living that she had seen during her long life. She leaves a family comprising William and Samuel (Katunga), David (Numurkah), Sis (Mrs Groves, Tatura), Jim (Nagambie) and Beatrice (Mrs A. Williams, Katunga). One daughter (Rachael) and one son (Tom) predeceased her. The funeral took place to the Numurkah Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. Mr Coulter read the burial service, and Messrs Tuttle and Kittle had charge of the arrangements.
