Biography

Muriel Adelaide Carter (married name Batten) was born in 1881 at Chiltern, Victoria, Australia, the daughter of Ellen Adelaide (Loftus) Carter and Henry James Carter.^[1]

She married Persian Ernest Batten on 24 June 1905 at St. John's Church, Latrobe Street, Melbourne, Victoria.^[2][3] Their children were:^[4]

• Persian Frank Harrison Batten (1907–?)^[5]
• Percian Ernest Batten (1911–1936)^[6]

Muriel died on 29 September 1926 at her home, 228 Osborne Street, North Williamstown, Victoria, aged 45 years.^[4][7]

BATTEN.—On the 29th September, at her residence, 228 Osborne Street, North Williamstown, Muriel Adelaide, dearly loved wife of Persian Ernest, devoted mother of Frank and Percy, daughter of Ellen, and the late H. G. Carter (Newmarket), loving sister of Bert (Albert Park), Harry (Malvern), loved sister-in-law of Greta (Albert Park) and Muriel (Malvern), and loving auntie of Nellie, Gwennie, Audrey, and Norma, aged 45 years.

Now at rest and free from all pain.^[4]
