Rachael Carter was born in 1816 in Prince William, Virginia. She married John Henry Pearson in 1835 in Washington DC.^[2]. Over the next twenty years she and John had at least twelve children: John, Annie, Nancy, Martha, Rebecca, Thomas, William, Luther, Mildred, Matilda, Andrew, and Henry. Rachel's love of family can be seen in her mixed household in 1860. Besides her and her husband, her son Luther and his wife Virginia lived with them. Her grandchildren John, Susan, Rachel, and Henrietta also lived in the home.

Rachael Pearson passed away in at the age of . She was laid to rest in the Pearson Family Cemetery.^[3]
