Harriet, the youngest child of Daniel's first wife, was present in his home in 1850, age 4, but not in the home in 1860, when she would be 14. (None of Daniel's first family are present.) There are several listings for Harriet Carter, age 14, in 1860. Believe Daniel's daughter in 1860 is living with her grandparents, Jesse and Elizabeth, her brother Thomas (15), and two aunts Martha, 40, and "Biddy" (Obediance?), 38, in Statenville, Echols County, GA. The timing fits with Daniel's second marriage and departure. Where did she live in between? Never married: In 1930, Harriet Carter, single, age 87, lives in the household of George Ward, Dixie, Brooks County, Georgia. She is the aunt of George or his wife Mattie, and possibly the sister of an 83 year old woman named "Rainy Ward." Not sure who this would be. Rainy's age does not match up with any of Harriet's younger sisters. Possibly, Harriet is the aunt of George's wife Mattie (plenty of Martha's in the family.) -- see the marriage of her aunt SARAH to DAVID T. WARD
