Biography

Ernest Claude Carter was born in 1859 at "Eringa," 'Boroondara', Victoria, Australia,^{[1] [2][3]} the son of Ernest Carter and Harriet Elizabeth Carter.^[1] (There is no locality called "Boroondara" in present day Victoria but this was a term that was loosely used to describe the area to the east of Hawthorn, and which now goes by the names of Camberwell and Canterbury.)

He married Margaret Jane Fell on 17 February 1886 in Arncliffe, Sydney, New South Wales.^[4] Their children were:^[5]

• Claudine Carter (1887–?)
• Ernest Carter (1892–1952)
• Margaret Victoria Carter (1903–?)

Margaret died in August 1926 in Heidelberg, Victoria.^[6]

Ernest died on 10 June 1939 in Sydney.^[5]
