• Note re obituary: Sarah Carter was born in Tennessee per all census records. She lived in Missouri for a few years after she was born.. her siblings were born there. The family then came to Union County c 1860. This obituary has many errors.

Mrs. Sarah Russell, beloved wife of John Russell and mother of Frank and Fred Russell of Murphysboro, expired at her home at Wolf Lake Thursday afternoon at 5 o'clock. Stomach trouble was given as the cause of her death, She had been ailing for some years, but was seriously ill the last two weeks.

The deceased was born in Union county and lived in that county all of her life. She was 69 years old.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell were united in marriage 45 years ago at Jonesboro, Ill. The following children survive with the father, J. Frank and Fred Russell, who conduct a barber shop in this city, Mrs. Frances Blum of Louis, Mrs. Dora Reed of Illmo, Mo., and Grant Russell of Wolf Lake. She also leaves a brother and sister, who reside at Cobden, Wilt George and Mrs. Amanda Tweedy.

Mrs. Russell was a very kind and devoted wife and mother, She has visited her sons in this city and was well liked by her acquaintances here. She was affiliated with the Southern Methodist church of Wolf Lake.

Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Burial at Jonesboro Cemetery.
